      Beach Towns

Michigan's West Coast BWOne glance at a map will show you that Grand Rapids isn't really a "coastal city." So why does National Geographic Adventure magazine call us one of America's Best Waterfront Towns? Because we're literally just minutes away from Lake Michigan!

It's virtually impossible to describe the beauty and majesty of Lake Michigan to a newcomer. You have to see it to believe it - as the editors of Condé Nast Traveler magazine did when they called it one of the world's top 25 shorelines. (Not the U.S., not North America, THE WORLD!)

Along with pristine white-sand beaches, towering sand dunes and glorious sunsets, the Lake Michigan coast is home to some pretty spectacular beach towns - all just a short drive from downtown Grand Rapids. Each offers its own unique character and charm.
